Graphite on paper - 16x20 inches - $2342
The Auburn State Theatre has been a fixture of this community for over 90 years, and for an artist rooted in the foothills, it felt like a subject that deserved to be drawn. Built in 1930 and designed by architect J. Lloyd Conrich, the theatre was conceived as something genuinely grand. Conrich brought that same care to other Northern California landmarks, such as the Cascade Theatre in Redding, and the Sierra Theatre in Grass Valley, but there's something particular about the Auburn theatre that drew me in. It's the kind of building that holds a town's memory.
